Christian Responsibilities

If you have believed in the Lord Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and believe that He died for your sins, was buried, and rose again bodily the third day, you need to know that there are some things God wants you to do.

Doing these things will not save you or add anything to your salvation which is a free gift from God. But they will promote happiness in your life.

   1. Be baptized (immersed). We should do this to express our obedience to Christ's command (Matthew 28:19,20), to have a good conscience (1 Peter 3:21), and to let other people know that we are true believers in Christ (Acts 8:35-39).

   2. Present our bodies to God (Romans 12:1,2). He purchased us and He wants to live His life through our lives so others can learn about Him.

   3. Read the Scriptures (2 Timothy 3:16,17). This will help us learn more about God and His plan for our lives and what He has in store for us in the future (Ephesians 1:11). Christian principles for our conduct are found, as a general rule, between John 13 and Revelation 3.

   4. Pray (talk to God). This can be done through worship, praise, thanksgiving, intercession, supplication, asking in Christ's name, confession, and making vows.

   5. Focus on things above (Colossians 3:1-4). This will enable us to put things in proper perspective.

   6. Meet regularly with other believers (Hebrews 10:24,25). Believers need to be equipped for their work of ministry and to stimulate other believers to love and good works. They also need to exercise their spiritual gifts and observe the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's table.

   7. Tell others about Christ (Acts 1:8). Some will respond by believing in Him, and others will reject Him and His offer of salvation.
