Jesus Christ - Liar, Lunatic, or Lord?

In the Spanish speaking community it is not uncommon to hear the name Jesus being given as a name to a baby boy. Perhaps the parents give it to their son in hopes of his doing something great in life or because they appreciate the Jesus of the Bible.

The Scriptures tell us to "believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and we will be saved." (Acts 16:31) Believing in just anyone who has the name "Jesus" isn't enough to save us from hell and get us to heaven. Our faith must be in the Jesus of the Bible.

Some people in Christ's day thought that He was an imposter and a liar. Others thought He was insane and out of His mind. But still others recognized Him as the Messiah sent from God. What do you think about Him?

Placing your faith in someone whom you have never seen or heard audibly and relying on that person to take you to heaven takes a lot of faith. But the Christ of the Scriptures is most unusual and is worthy of your trust.

WHAT THE BIBLE SAYS ABOUT JESUS CHRIST

   1. He is fully God. (John 1:1) He is equally God with the Father and the Holy Spirit and possesses all the attributes of God.
   2. He is the God-man. (Philippians 2:6-8) He added to Himself a true humanity and has a Divine and human nature.

   3. He was virgin born. (Matthew 1:23) God the Father miraculously implanted His seed into Mary who became the mother of His humanity only, not His deity.
   4. He lived a sinless life. (Hebrews 4:15) He was tempted as we are but never sinned.
   5. He performed miracles (John 20:31) This proved that He was and is God who created all things.
   6. He died for our sins. (1 Corinthians 15:3,4) He paid fully the debt we owed to God.
   7. He rose again bodily the third day. (1 Corinthians 15:4) Then He was seen by over 500 witnesses.
   8. He ascended back to heaven. (Acts 1:9)
   9. He promised to return bodily to earth. (John 14:3)
   10. He will raise from the dead everyone who has ever been conceived.
(1 Corinthians 15:23,24) Some will go to heaven; others to hell.

KNOWING THE FACTS ISN'T ENOUGH

In order for us to spend eternity with God in heaven we must personalize the gospel. We must believe that Christ died for OUR sins, was buried, and rose again from the dead. Only a risen Savior can help us.

Salvation is by God's grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone, as found in Scripture alone.
"Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved…." (Acts 16:31)
