Filing
Bankruptcy
Some
people file bankruptcy because their indebtedness is more than
they can bear. Perhaps it was due to the misuse of credit cards,
or it may have been due to unexpected calamities of some kind.
Attempts are being made to change the laws of bankruptcy. When
debt is incurred, it must be repaid. Taxpayers often end up paying
the debt of those who file bankruptcy.
Financial bankruptcy is bad, but spiritual bankruptcy
is much worse. When we stop to think about our spiritual condition
and the bottom line, we're all in deep trouble. The Scriptures
tell us that all of us have sinned and come short of the glory
of God. The wages (payment) for our sins is death (separation
from God). If we got what we deserved, we'd all be in hell.
There is no way that we could pay our way out
of the debt we owe to God.
God knew that we couldn't pay the debt. So He came up with a plan
to rescue us. It involved His Son's paying the debt we owed. After
living a sinless life, Christ went to the cross to die for our
sins. While on the cross, God the Father placed all the sins of
all mankind on Him. Then Christ died and satisfied the outraged
holiness of God against sin. The debt was paid in full. We know
this because He rose again from the dead.
The only thing we have to do today to be saved
from an eternal hell is to accept the gift of eternal life by
believing in Christ Who died in our place for our sins, was buried,
and rose again bodily the third day. Those who refuse to believe
in Christ will have to pay their debt to God by being eternally
separated from Him in hell.
Salvation is always by grace alone, through
faith alone, in Christ alone, as found in the Scriptures alone.
Have you been forgiven the debt your owe?
Are you headed for heaven? Make sure today.
